Job Description

The Compliance Analyst assists in promoting and executing Fontem legal strategies and initiatives.  They work collaboratively in support of the US Legal team across its primary focus areas (i.e. compliance in sales/marketing activities, corporate compliance, etc.) in the integration and communication of the legal department’s activities and insights. 

The individual will assist with market monitoring of opportunities/threats in the competitive environment; and review and execute appropriate legal documents/assets. Keeping these documents up-to-date, this combination will lead to improved effectiveness and efficiency of how the US Legal team works with other departments.

The position reports directly to the Compliance Manager.

Responsibilities:

Assists manager in developing processes, systems, protocols and programs to address compliance requirements generated by governmental policies, regulations, standards, procedures and guidelines under which the company operates.

Supports Compliance Manager and General Counsel in everyday legal department activities. Assists in developing regulatory compliance strategies and tactics in response to specific challenges in the regulatory arena.

With guidance from manager, analyzes federal and state legislative activities to assess potential impact to the business and compliance requirements.

Assists manager in documenting general compliance requirements, directing development of proposed actions, and implementing of appropriate courses of action.

With supervision, performs compliance reviews for sales/marketing assets such as, without limitation: point of sale materials, NDA distribution, brand imagery, and certain communications.

Supports coordination between Legal team and other departments to continue building an effective compliance program, establish guidelines and practices consistent with world-class requirements across the Company.

Assists in the management of day-to-day legal department activities such as; external counsel billing and budgeting activities; document preservation, collection and production; and provides general support to US legal operations.

 

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and/or paralegal certification with preferably 2 years of document review and/or paralegal experience. OR, 1-2 years of relevant experience at a consumable good company.

Consumer packaged goods background with demonstrated ability to assume higher levels of responsibility is highly preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Data collection and analysis. Drafting detailed reports and summaries.

 Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of the US legal and policy system works, and the willingness to learn the strategic and operational aspects of the regulatory bodies governing the e-cigartte industry as well as the regulatory requirements, guidelines, laws and regulations.

Tobacco or consumable goods industry experience preferred

Excellent written and oral communication background.

Energetic, team player with the ability to work well under pressure. Time management, problem solving techniques and attention to detail skills are essential.
